Norman Coombs, Ph.D. CEO, EASI
Norman Coombs taught history for almost 40 years at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he was awarded the New York State Teacher of the Year Award for his work in distance teaching. As a user of adaptive technology, he became an avid advocate for universities to make their information technology systems accessible to students with disabilities and, for over 20 years he has been part of EASI (Equal Access to Software and Information). He has given presentations in 9 countries, written articles and published books to further this commitment. In 2010, Jossey-Bass published his most recent book, Making Online Teaching Accessible.
Coombs now lives in Laguna Hills, California, with his wife, Jean, and he is thankful that he does not shovel snow any more. Norm and Jean enjoy taking cruises to Hawaii, down the coast of Mexico and through the Panama Canal.
Beth Coombs, CAO, EASI
Beth Coombs graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelors degree in social work in 2001. After which she moved to Laguna Hills, California where she works as a real estate agent with a specialty in working with seniors. This lets her continue using her training in social work and help seniors negotiate the trauma of moving and down sizing.
Beth has worked for EASI since 1998, usually behind the scenes doing the billing and fielding phone calls. She has supported EASI conference participation and helped with presentations including conferences in California, Colorado, Florida and Austria. She also did research and proof reading for the book, Making Online Teaching Accessible.
